Ohio Tour de Bronte

Ohio Tour de Bronte

Bronte officially came to Ohio!

It was her second flight, and first red eye. Lemon also made the journey, and we felt so lucky that they both slept the majority of the flight. Dad and Julia picked us up from the airport - it was their first time meeting Bronte. It was a first for many, as Bronte got to spend the next few days meeting my side of the family. Staying on Grove Avenue with Aunt Anne, Uncle Tim, Megyn and Emma, we enjoyed rainy days on the porch, late nights stromboli cooking, a swim at Aunts Beth and Linda’s pool, and a sunny cookout. We took walks to bookstores and throughout the neighborhood. Bronte got to experience Ohio humidity and the delightful summer nights where coats and blankets are no longer necessary. Like a true McCarty, Bronte stayed up late and socialized with everyone.

It was also our first time staying at John and Brandy’s new, beautiful home. We had naked time for all the little cousins, and Conor showed Bronte all of his dinosaurs. We played with water and kicked around soccer balls in the back yard, and in the evenings mom and Bill would come over for food and quality time out on the patio. It was special for us to come home and witness the lives of our brothers/cousins/parents, while exposing Bronte at a young age to the heart that surrounded me growing up. Bronte also got to be held by her great-grandma Marcia. The Hull side of the family really came through - Bronte had a massive diaper blow out, and we didn’t have any more clothes or diapers on us. Marcia had a cute new outfit ready for her, Aunt Julie had onsies, and Ruby had left a size 5 diaper for Bronte to use. It was make-shift, but with family support, anything is possible.

Part two of our Ohio trip was to visit the Perins! At their property, Bronte stayed naked pretty much the entire time. She laid in the grass, watched us feed the fish, and took golf cart rides to see the neighboring cows. Jane created a nursery for Bronte - sloth and giraffe themed bedroom with stuffed animals, a closet of new clothes, and several of Jamie’s dresses when she was a baby. It was a perfect place for Bronte to nap, and allowed us time outside on the patio to enjoy to firepit, s’more making, and watching the fireflies over the blades of grass.

We spent a day in Amish country, where we bought her a new rocking chair, along with a new dining table for us mommies. We enjoyed hand churned ice cream, and one of the most delicious apple pies I have ever had. For the July 4th holiday the Perin and Janca sides of the family came over to celebrate, and they got to hold and see Bronte as well. It was a relaxing time laying in the grass or on the hammock, while Jim manned the grill. Lemon even found a new friend in Spike’s dog, who is even smaller than she is. Jamie and I got to four wheeling while Jane took Bronte - it was truly a time on the farm, and we absolutely loved it.
