Coated by Fall
For us, October brings with it the excitement and the energy of the holidays. It no longer greets us with cascading yellow, red, and orange leaves that we remember so well when we lived back home. And instead of chilly nights coming to our rescue from an oppressive summer, here in San Francisco, October brings with it a crisp warmth. Everyday walking in the city is like eating an apple pie right out of the oven. Finally there is warmth, and some change in the foliage, but there is also the excitement of pumpkin patches, pumpkin beer on tap, and RENFEST!
That’s correct! Not only will you go thumping around the pumpkin patch in search for that perfect, carve-able pumpkin, but the next day you will play silly games with men sporting tights and horrible British accents and women reading palms and washing rags in barrels. The renaissance festival is a staple within our fall activities - Jamie will conquer axe throwing, the Manly Men in Tights will entertain us, and I will order the Sirius Black drink (which is Sirius-ly strong). This time though, I may have found the perfect coat. It’s blue, its floral, and it has a hood. Pockets so perfectly slanted, and buttons named after Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas. I can wear it in today’s world, in Austen’s world, in Dicken’s world, and in a world of wenches and witches. It is a very, dynamic, coat.
Happy Fall!
