Ruby and Snoop Dogg: Our New Acquaintances
While I am sure Ruby would love to meet Snoop Dogg, we saw each one of them separately. Our weekend with Ruby consisted of Aunt time, sleeping in Aunt arms, and visiting Ojai for some wine and ice cream. While we are more cousin/aunts, we got the approval from True Aunt Rachel to use the term.
Ruby is a doll - with lips that curl and big, wide, wandering eyes. She does a great fake out when mid morning nap time comes around, and I fell prey only once to thinking she would rather be awake. We tested her limits in the car and her activity level, promising her Aunt Jamie will never desist in that objective.
Seeing Meredith and Tyler as parents was equally fun. They were careful, but not in the helicopter sense. Open to all things, they tested a ‘neck balloon-donut-thing’ for bath time - which Ruby loved! She was swimming and paddling around, and we all about died. The weekend was wonderful, a true family affair.
And now for the Snoop Dogg reference: we saw Snoop Dogg, or as ‘some’ would say, Snoop Daddy!
Brandy flew to meet us in Vegas for the Fourth of July. We met her at the airport in the early morning hours, knowing that the afternoon held a 10am cocktail at the Flamingo Hotel pool, and an afternoon at the Virgin Hotel pool where we would see Snoop Dogg perform. Though Brandy ended up missing Snoop Daddy, she officially broke in the Vegas weekend by regurgitating her pool side drinks in our hotel bathroom. Don’t tell her I told you.
The remaining part Vegas was a blur - hearty breakfasts (Kathy got kicked out of one breakfast joint because of her apparel….what?! Don’t worry, we were surprised too, considering what most people wear in Vegas), pool time, water volleyball, buckets of beer, card games, pool time, and Cirque Du Soleil Michael Jackson. Brandy woke up each morning at 6am and walked the strip and hit some slots, and Jamie ended up mastering Roulette — she won $450 off of $30, however I lost it all for her the following night. Turns out I am not lucky.
