A Fast Car In Valley of Fire

A Fast Car In Valley of Fire

Every January, Megyn comes to California. This year we celebrated her stay with a short visit to The Valley of Fire in the Mojave Desert, and she got another taste of the wild west that lives on repeat in her dreams. We spent two nights at a hotel just by the park entrance, and the mornings drove through the red rocks and winding roads. We stopped at fire waves, pink canyons, and sought out petroglyphs. It was a small park, and we enjoyed the short trails and the many nooks to crawl into and the large rocks to climb upon.

Bronte made homes inside of beehive canyons and rock openings, placed rocks in smooth grooves within slot canyons, and climbed stones only to run off of them at full speed. We hiked with hearts full as Bronte sang to us, and our minds exploded when we heard her spell her name. We had a picnic on red rocks, and drank cold beer in a Mexican restaurant at night. We tried to catch the morning light with a photo shoot in the winding roads, and made sure that Bronte’s toilet was set up in the prettiest spots - with a view. We had a fast car, certainly, but we took our time. It was a short vacation that solidified Megyn into Bronte’s core family unit.
