It Was a Maleficent Halloween
We have taken our Halloween festivities to new levels! Our pumpkin carving party was successful, though sadly not the seed roasting. The pumpkins turned out great, though I cannot guess to what everyone actually carved. Teddy did some sort of robot alien, while Scott’s was not exactly PG. Nick did an emoji, while Lora won the award for Sully from Monsters Inc. Josh’s attempt at a masked-nose-mustache-face was valiant, whereas Jamie and I carved faces linked to our costumes. As Maleficent, Jamie decided to do a self portrait. And as I was Elizabeth Bennett from the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies abomination, I carved Mr. Darcy’s face. Naturally!
Besides continuing to watch all of our favorite Halloween movies, including Monster Squad, Sleepy Hollow, Casper, Halloweentown, Nightmare Before Christmas, Ghost Breakers, and Halloween, we have done many local haunts. The Half Moon Bay Festival was as quaint as you would hope it to be, with pumpkin mac and cheese and pumpkin spice coffees. The enormous maze at Arita Pumpkin Farm was conquered three times, and we turned guides for a very brave but very lost group of people. It was the weekend before Halloween that we finally dressed in our costumes and went out dancing at Bootie —yes, Bootie. A large warehouse that was decked out in skeleton and bat decor, and had an incredible monster drag show. We got to watch our friends Teddy and Scott dance as Mario and Luigi on stage and as runners up to the best group costume.
