Bould and Its Glamping Trip
It was another Bould Trip for the books: a glamping trip at Costanoa near Pescadero, CA. Or, if you were the fortunate one to bring a dog, you got exiled to newly built log cabins with running water, heat, a kitchen, and TV. It was the only place that staying with a dog was nicer than staying without one. While Jamie and I had to forego the splendid experience of putting on a coat and boots to use the restroom in the middle of the night, those who actually glamped had cute tents with beds and heated blankets.
Costanoa was a quaint getaway that offered tents, cabins, little sauna’s, RV hook ups, and an outdoor play area for corn hole. They had goats to pet, and fire-pits with s’mores. One morning we walked to see the tide pools along the coast line, only find that we needed some creativity to cross a stream together. An unplanned team building experience, to say the least. Fred just jumped across the stream, and Can walked across it. For all others who were too cold to get wet, threw rocks in the stream to have a makeshift walkway. With Fred and Can’s help, we all got across in our own way. Hannah fell into the stream, whereas Mina didn’t even attempt to do it and jumped into Can’s arms. Little Eliza was pulled to safety, even littler Zoe would’ve swam if she could, and tiny Lemon wasn’t phased being asleep in my coat. Yes — remember, as you look at photos, that I have Lemon in my coat. I am not pregnant.
Elephant Seals spotted the coastline on every hike to the water we did. Their gigantic bodies rippled as they moved from one sunny spot to the next, and we imagined they waved hello at us several times. Our photo shoots with them got silly, as did time on the beach all together. We were thankful for the getaway, the burnt marshmallows over the fires, our cornhole tournaments, electric skating, and, of course, our matching family outfits.
