Last Christmas I Gave You My Heart
One of the most beautiful and exhilarating moments this Christmas was realizing that all our Christmas traditions will be with a child next year. It did however feel very real this Christmas - every moment felt like we were a family of four. The baby was kicking more and more fervently, joining in on the late night Euchre games in Ohio and enjoying the sugar jolt of hot chocolates. But in San Francisco, we did our best to fit in all that we love in the city in just two short weeks.
Our tree was gorgeous this year! 8.5ft tall with a new bow as a topper. It definitely came with its own attitude, and this was the first year where pine needles fell at an alarming rate. We went where we always go to for trees: Alhambra Tree Farm, and partook in our favorite photo shoot with Lemon. While our baby can detect sound, I get a sense it loved the smell of pine as well.

What better way to show off the baby belly, than as a proper Grinch?
Jamie was thrilled with the idea, as this is her favorite holiday movie. We ordered outfits for both the Grinch and Martha May, and picked up some antlers at a local store for Lemon. That same day we went to see the play, The Grinch who Stole Christmas, in San Jose, enjoying a stroll through Christmas in the park and a Vietnamese dinner after.
On our way back from San Jose, we saw lights at Filoli Historic House and Gardens. The gardens were so expansive, lit with so much Christmas cheer, yet inside the house was my favorite. You could walk in the servant quarters and kitchen, before then going into the main rooms where Christmas trees were lavishly decorated.
More of our San Francisco traditions: ice skating at Union Square, high tea at Palace Hotel, and The Dickens Faire. Just magical!
