Babies and Birthdays in San Diego!
Gabi’s birthday surprise was exactly what we all needed: sister-in-law love, Champagne, Benicio snuggles, Champagne, Brazilian food, and Champagne. It was a picnic that lasted 8 hours, and while I cannot name the food that we ate, just know that chicken and cream cheese pies are to be desired for any occasion. We learned that Brigadero can be come in cake form, and that there are efficient, portable frozen margarita makers. Benicio loves watching us kick around Boo’s toys as much as Boo does — the two of them bonded over a particularly noisy penguin.
Gabi is someone to be celebrated - her friends and her family have so much light and love that surrounds them. It was a surprise when we woke her up at 3am, sneaking into their house on the eve of her party. Meredith and Tyler came as a surprise as well, as we continue our small family get-togethers out West.
The day after the picnic we went to a strawberry field — one that was oddly placed by an electrical plant. For a nice chunk of time we admired the electricity that radiated off of Gabi, thinking she was turning into some Stargate-Goddess on her birthday, until Jamie looked up an saw all the power lines. Why Gabi channeled the current the most, we were uncertain, and even looked at the strawberries skeptically. Could they too hold an unearthly power?? Guess we will find out, cause they were delicious!
