Tahoe Dreaming
By George, I think she's got it!
It was our first snowboarding trip in two years, and the snow in Tahoe remains from its record pile up in December. With temperatures each day being 45 degrees, the snow was packed down and icy. Pulling on our butt pads, we took to the mountains with one thought: do not fall! Falls are only enjoyable when there is plenty of powder, and each one feels like your landing on a marshmallow. Icy snow, however, feels like a knife running through your tailbone.
Emily and Alex also met up with us, and we did one day at Homewood Resort, and the next at Mount Rose. It was so warm, so beautiful, and we did awesome, by George! Something clicked, because we were able to gain a lot more speed and confidence, and both improved since last on the slopes. It was a great feeling - as it always in when you tame a beast!
By night we played games by the fireplace with pizza and wine. The long weekend at the cabin added to the wintery rejuvenation of the mountain air. We continued to play in the snow as we hiked Chickadee Ridge Trail, seeing the lake from most peaks we scaled. Tahoe was a dream that weekend, and we are so thankful to spend it with friends.
