Everybody Comes Here, This is Hollywood, Land of Dreams

Everybody Comes Here, This is Hollywood, Land of Dreams

As I write this blog post, I look back at the recent posts of Tahoe and marvel at the difference. To have heat and sunshine as we walk the city streets of Los Angeles, following the immense piles of snow that hid houses up in Tahoe reminds me of a poem by Robert Frost. While it has no real pertinence to this blog post, I’d like to share it, as it is musically flowing in the back of my mind.

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

-Frost

Los Angeles was immensely kind to us, with sunny days, fretless parking, glamorously inviting rooftop bars, and our first major star sightings. Thankfully Scott was there, else we would’ve passed these actors thinking….hmm, you look familiar. It may be safe to say, if you pass someone that looks like someone, possibly, that you’ve seen before - you have just spotted a movie star like Rob Reiner, Will Arnett, and Mark Sloan. I think the only thing we could complain about, was that Sleeping Beauty’s castle was under construction at Disneyland, but that would just be silly to complain about. But come on, the castle is like the main dramatic backdrop. So lets be real.

At The Broad Museum we saw Koon’s immense, glossy sculptures, Harring’s intimate portraits, and thankfully made reservations to see finally stand in the Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirror Room for a whole 45 seconds. The Beverly Hills Hotel was nostalgic, and we walked around its art deco interior with our chocolate and strawberry milkshakes. Jamie and I headed for lunch at Rodeo Drive, and afterwards popped in and out of Cartier, Jimmy Choo, St. Laurent, and Gucci. Mercedes G Wagons and Lamborghinis lined the roads as much as the palm trees, and the surrounding homes were made of wide archways and pillars. There was as much to admire as there was to wonder and dream…

“Welcome to Hollywood! What’s your dream?
Everybody comes here; this is Hollywood, land of dreams.
Some dreams come true, some don’t; but keep on dreamin’ - this is Hollywood.”
