Bunny Ears, Beaches, and Bikes Rides in Carmel
Easter at Carmel-By-The-Sea
This is our third year going to Carmel for Easter weekend, our third time putting bunny ears on Boo, and yet it became a weekend of firsts. Each time we go to stay, we try out new quaint hotels, new restaurants, and new hikes/routes/rides. This fairy-tale town is one that you do not want to do much besides the usual walking around the neighborhoods, going to Carmel beach, and grabbing of pretzels at Carmel Bakery. But happily we have discovered new things that will definitely be repeated as future traditions. Such as:
Ride the 17-mile Scenic route with Bunny Ears
Creme Brûlée at Patisserie Boissiere Restaurant
Wine at Mission Ranch (maybe some tennis?!)
A stroll in Mission San Carlos Borromeo del río Carmelo
Easter Brunch
While this is a list of new-musts when we visit Carmel, there are old traditions that we enjoyed this weekend as well. Such as the Candy cottage, the Jane Austen Store, a photo shoot on Carmel Beach, browsing realtor windows, and Carmel Coffee Roasters. Our bike ride was incredibly hilly, but was a fun festive adventure. Everyone loved the bunny ears, and we met many other bikers who were doing an “egg hunt”. Boo enjoyed the walk along the beach, and she too gets a special item from Carmel Bakery.
We came back to San Francisco with a heart light and full. It felt like we went to see our friend, Sleeping Beauty, in her cottage castle for the weekend. There is nothing but magic and Once-Upon-a-Dream songs that coursed through us, and we welcomed Monday with the freshness of Spring.
