A Capacity to Camp

A Capacity to Camp

It has been several months since we last posted of our California adventures, and so we are happy to be back at it!  Much has been the same - our love for the Bay area, and our discoveries of the Pacific coastline. And yet, much has changed. Kathy started her own practice as a house call chiropractor in the city as well as opening a non-profit chapter, and Jamie has been the design squad for it all. As for Boo, she has surpassed us in her friendships, as she now has a huge fan base in San Francisco, San Mateo, and now Oakland!

This past weekend also marked a new start for us:  camping. Camping! Yes, camping. The art of effort. We bought a tent with the vision of becoming true campers, seeing us steal away weekends to put up our tent in Yosemite, the Big Sur, and Beyond. Our first experience, then, was when Jamie's co-workers planned a camping weekend to Jug Handle National Park, in Fort Bragg, to celebrate the exciting union of an amazing couple, Byron and Joyce, and Nick's birthday. We roasted marshmallows, drank champagne on the beach during sunset, and sat on the coastal cliffs watching whales in the distance. All that was spectacular and so beautiful, and yet camping is not for the weak hearted. Not only do you have to pack and clean things, but you have to do it over again for like four times. And this is coming from two people that basically watched as the boys BBQed, cleaned, and repeated! Needless to say, we are thankful for our friends. Though we backpacked SouthEast Asia for 4 months, camping seems to be a bigger feat. Weird, we know.

Boo was happy, and completely in her element. We loved it up there, as the nature was wide and open. So much so that we have since then been look at property near Fort Bragg because of it. How can it be that so many beautiful nooks and crannies can be found within the city, but also within a 4 hour radius? If the weather does not bring you out here, then the magnitude of raw nature will.
